MUSIC
Individualized Private Instruction

NCA offers students of all ages and abilities from beginners to advanced levels one-on-one instruction in Voice, Piano, Guitar, Strings and Percussion. Private lessons provide both children and adults with the opportunity to develop technical skill, improve musicianship, and gain knowledge and appreciation for repertoire.   The private lesson is designed to nurture individual talent and teach practice skills. Beginners are taught the basics of technique, reading, and performance. Advanced students will continue to build repertoire, style, and interpretive skills. Everyone is invited to play or sing in student recitals held throughout the year. At the end of the spring quarter, juried "evaluations" are offered for students who have demonstrated progress and desire comments from other teachers.  Students meet individually, weekly or every other week, with their teachers who develop individualized programs of study. Lesson may begin at any time during any month.

Musical Theatre Workshop (I)
Make the Most of Your Songs

In Musical Theatre Workshop (I) you will acquire the tools needed in order to bring full meaning and ownership to the musical theatre songs that are a delight to sing. Be it a song from what is often called the “golden age” or from the contemporary repertoire, in this class we will approach the material first and foremost from an acting point of view. And so just like when you are acting, you will learn how to create circumstances and apply strong choices that will make a song work out of the context of the show, and make it your very own. (Where necessary, we may also look at some vocal matters as they apply to your songs.) The class will culminate in a performance with invited audience.
