Adelka Polak, Puppetry/Dance
Adelka Polak
has worked as a stage movement instructor, choreographer,
and puppeteer blending her acting training with Butoh,
Clowning, Jazz, and Modern Dance techniques. Her significant
collaborations and international touring have been with
Pittsburgh-based avant-garde troupe, Squonk Opera. The
Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre premiered their
most recent show “Once There Was a Village” at LaMaMa, E.T.C.
in January 2007 with Adelka performing multiple roles.
She holds a B.A. in Cultural Studies and Theatre from
Chatham College. Adelka is a teacher at New Centre for the
Arts in Brookfield, CT. Her newest show, “Anthropic
Bathing,” which combines video, sound & movement with
theories of quantum physics, premiered at the Sculpture Barn
July 2007.
