Dana Pomfret, Songwriter
Dana Pomfret is a singer/songwriter/recording artist from
NYC, now living among trees in CT. David Crosby calls her
‘one of the best new singer/songwriters in America.’ Dana
has recorded for Elektra, SBK & Warner Bros. Records, & her
music is a wonderful, unique hybrid of influences ranging
from folk, soul & jazz to classic R&B. Her four
original albums feature performances by rock legends David
Crosby & Graham Nash, jazz bass phenomenon François Moutin,
guitar wizards Jeff Pevar & Jim Chapdelaine & renowned
singer/songwriter Martin Sexton. In addition, she has
recorded the vocals for feature films ‘Jumping at the
Boneyard’ (produced by Lawrence Kasdan, starring Tim Roth
and Samuel Jackson) and ‘Zero Cool,' written & recorded the
music for Internews
Indonesia’s first women’s radio programming (which brought
current health information to the women of Indonesia for the
first time), performed to benefit the National Ovarian
Cancer Coalition & lent her pipes to multitudinous jingles &
albums. She is currently recording her 5th CD, which will be
released in Fall, 2006. Dana is also a dynamic & experienced
arts educator. Currently employed as a specialized
instructor at Greater Hartford Classical Magnet School, she
teaches recording, songwriting, voice & mixed-media arts
programs. She has run songwriting/recording & creative
writing programs
for the CT Commission on the Arts (which were cited for
excellence by the state of CT), the Farmington Valley Arts
